About Us

Hadleigh Firefighters operate on a Retained Crewing system, the 11 firefighters based at Hadleigh are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Hadleigh cover a vast area, including Elmsett, Nedging, Whatfield, Bildeston, Hitcham, Boxford, Edwardstone, Flowton, Aldham, Semer, A12 from Capel St Mary to East Bergholt, Raydon, Holton St Mary, Polstead, Higham, Layham and of course Hadleigh to name but a few.

Hadleigh's Crew is made up of 11 Strapping young fellows (which is open to debate), no women currently want to join us (can't say I blame them), but if anyone sees this and is interested give Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service a call on 01473 588888 and ask for an Application Pack, then feel free to pop down and see us @ Station on a Thursday night (DRILL NIGHT)!

We welcome in recent months - Steve Horsley to Hadleigh Fire Station, Steve was a Firefighter in Cornwall Fire & Rescue and is also a Wholetime Firefighter at Stansted Airport.

Farewells: In recent years we have said Goodbye to Lff Dave Allen through Retirement after over 25 years service, Ff Mervyn Bignell - who had served over 25 years, Ff Tim Turner who had to move away for career enhancement, SubO Kevin Oxford who left to join The Wholetime Service with Suffolk Fire & Rescue, Kev is now based @ Colchester Road, Ipswich and already has completed his Leading Firefighter and Subo Officer exams, he is now a Sub Officer in the training department, most recently we have lost Leading Firefighter Tony Branch (Todge), Todge has emigrated to Cyprus with his wife Paula and dalmation George. Firefighter Lee Blake left Hadleigh in August 05 and has transferred to HQ in Ipswich as he now lives with his partner Krysti in their new home in Rushmere.

Special Remembrance is also made to ex Firefighter Brian Scarfe who is no longer with us.
